Tintype is an old process from the late 1800’s that was one of the first photographic processes that made it possible for the general public to have their portrait taken. Since they were reproduced on metals, tintypes were relatively inexpensive and it provided quick results. The emulsion had a yellow color so the image results looked old, now one of the inherent qualities on tintypes.

The Rockland Tintype Parlor Kit is an authentic re-creation of the tintype process, a type of “instant” photography. These are safe, dry-plate tintypes, also known as ferrotypes, like those found in antique shops, not modern imitations. Plates are thin enough to cut with scissors to fit inside any camera. The kit contains everything you need to make tintypes (or ambrotypes if coated on glass.)

The Tintype Parlor kit contains eight 4x5” black anodized aluminum plates, 1 oz. Rockland Liquid Light emulsion, 8 oz. of liquid developer, powder fixer and complete instructions.
