Based on a discovery by Aristotle in the 4th century B.C., pinhole cameras emulate the basic function of the human eye by projecting a flipped image through a tiny hole (the "pinhole") onto film loaded onto the camera's rear surface. The whole process is done without a lens--hence the name Lensless Camera Company!
This large 8"x10" box-type model produces eye catching oversized wide-angle images thanks to its focal length of 150mm. It's made from 1/2" 9-ply Baltic Birch plywood, which is walnut stained with a polyurethane finish, and has both horizontal and vertical tripod mounts, so you can get both the formatting and stability you need. It also has the advantage of being able to accept cut film holders or Polaroid backs, thus eliminating the need to load the camera in the darkroom for each exposure. If you want to experience image-making stripped down to its absolute basics, you can't get more basic than with a pinhole, the device from which all modern photography originated.
