The Archival Pigment Emulsion Transfer System

Until recently, artists could create Polaroid transfers by exposing the film and letting it only partially develop, peeling the emulsion backing from the receptor print paper (discarding what normally would have become the photograph), placing the emulsion backing onto watercolor paper and then pressing down. The emulsion adheres to the watercolor paper and when the backing is peeled, the Polaroid transferred image is complete. The artist was then free to alter the image as desired.  Unfortunately, with the demise of Polaroid film this technique is largely unavailable to most artists...until now!

Express yourself and expand your creative voice with the Archival Pigment Emulsion Transfer System! Find new inspiration with products that allow you to create unique originals rather than limitless editions.Bring the hand of the artist back into your work with the ability to make stunning one of a kind images using DASS ART Products. Whether printing directly onto pre-coat painted surfaces or transferring images onto any number of substrates, DASS ART products and supplies have no limit to the unique images you can create following Bonny Lhotka’s processes. Experimentation is encouraged to generate new opportunities and allow your inner printmaker to emerge.

The Archival Pigment Emulsion transfer system was developed by Bonny Lotka and this is a processes for transferring inkjet prints to other surfaces using a variety of proprietary and widely-available mediums. All processes are suitable for wide format and desktop printers using pigment inks.

DASS ART is all the products and supplies you need, for any of Bonny Lhotka’s processes for Archival Pigment Emulsion Transfers.

DASS ART Pre-Aged Colored Aluminum Sheets are one of the many substrates appropriate for a variety of transfer techniques. These random-colored, pre-aged sheets work well with SuperSauce and WonderSauce processes. No two are alike. Colors could include silvery gold, bronze, chocolate and/or carbon hues. Many have interference rainbow effects. One side is usually more solid, with the other side having random patterns that can be used for combining with an image transfer for a one-of-a-kind piece of art. DASS ART Universal Pre-Coat II can be used on this substrate for direct printing.

We are unable to provide images of specific plates, or to exchange individual plates. Colored plate packs are random and sold as-is.
