Polaroid SX-70 Artistic TZ Instant Film

For use with Polaroid SX-70 cameras and instruments equipped with a Polaroid CB-72 camera back.

This emulsion is compatible with SX-70 Image Manipulation Process.

Film speed: ISO 100

This film is able to be manipulated and will fit/work in any version of a Polaroid SX-70 camera. The photographic characteristics may appear to be slightly muted when compared to original SX70.

NOTE: This is not the previous SX-70 Blend brand of Polaroid film. The Artistic TZ is made specifically for its ability to be manipulated, at the request of Polaroid's customers. For best results, do not try to manipulate the image until about 1 hour after the image is processed, and then it will be possible to manipulate for up to 24 hours after the image was taken.

Tech Tips:  Below are sample images taken with this new batch of Artistic TZ SX-70 film.  Images were able to be manipulated within 1 hour of exposing but worked best when manipulated between the 5 and 24 hour mark.

The film is also more pliable when heated with a heating pad for 15 minutes. Then with the print on a hard surface and with continued heating the emulsion is much more easily altered.

Do not put film in a microwave!  Bad things will happen!

Use soft tools such as burnishers and or wooden clay sculpting tools.

Less pressure on the tool renders greater painterly effects.

Further testing has revealed that this film prefers inside low light scenes minimizing the overall tan/brownish cast of the film.  More green and blue colors are pronounced than when shooting outside in bright sunlight.
