A member of Freestyle's Advisory Board of Photographic Professionals, Ms. Elizabeth Opalenik of Oakland, California has had her work shown at over 60 exhibitions internationally and in museum gallery and private collections throughout the world. A sought after figure in the photographic world, Ms. Opalenik leads workshops in California, Provence, Tuscany, Mexico and France, and also conducts classes for some of the most popular institutions in the world, including the Maine Photographic Workshops and Santa Fe Workshops and The British Guild of Portrait Photographers. She has a particular affinity for black & white infrared photography, having been a practitioner and teacher of the subject for nearly a quarter of a century.

QUESTION:

Elizabeth, What camera are you referring to in freestyle, the Leica, and also what is a favorite medium format camera that you would suggest? I am a new photographer and would like to get a medium format camera to capture more detail. thanks

Greetings, Being interested in flower photography,I love the Poetic Grace series and wondered which paper and grade you used for them. Were they selectively toned or hand painted? I like the combination of a little colour in a B&W print. Roy

Dear Roy, Thank you for your question regarding the "Poetic Grace" series. All the flowers have been printed on the Bergger Prestige VCNB Neutral tone glossy paper and selectively toned with Polytoner and then again, overall toned with a more dilu...full answer

What camera and equipment do you suggest if you love black and white nudes, polaroid sx, and mordancage? Thank You, Mary

Dear Mary Beth,Thank you for your question regarding cameras. First if you love Polaroid SX, I suggest you find an old Polaroid SX 70 camera and play with that. It is possible however to trick some of the newer Polaroid 600 cameras...full answer

You obviously move in a rarefied photographic atmosphere. What do you do with a Holga and why do you bother with a piece of "junk"?
