QUESTION:
Dear Henry,
After seeing your picture "Highway 1, 1965" at the Mumm Gallery a year or so ago I purchased a print from the Ansel Adams Gallery. Since then my wife and I have been trying to figure out just where the picture was taken. Can you please enlighten us?
-David Mr. Gilpin's Answer:
Dear David,
The photograph "Highway 1" was taken about ten to twenty miles south of Big Sur on the California Coast. Big Sur is about thirty miles south of Monterey, CA.
I never measured from the exact spot to another location.

As Kodak Polymax Fine Art wil no longer be available, I am looking for a substitute.

Thank You,
Patrick Mr. Gilpin's Answer:
Patrick,
I use only graded paper! I like Kentmere paper very much - intense blacks and great whites. I have used Oriental papers for years [graded] and I feel it is almost as good as Kentmere.
