student of Minor White and Ansel Adams. He has inspired thousands of students who have committed themselves to the photographic process, teaching

Mr. Garrod,
I have been looking for an alternative to Kodak Polymax. I have tried Dektol and Ilford PQ both with poor results. I saw on another post that you use Ilford paper and sice I admire your work very much, I would be grateful for your developer recomendation for Ilford MGIV FB.

You raise a good question and the final answer is of course best resolved thru careful testing. However, I do use Ilford Multigrade IV and have used Ethol LPD print developer with it. It comes as a powder and also as a liquid, although I don't see th...full answer

Mr. Garrod,
First I must say your prints are stunning. I went well out of the way to see some at the David Ashcraft gallery.
I would like to try dye dodging my tmax 100 4x5 negative. I have found info recommending Veronica Cass dyes, but it looks like she went out of business. Can you recommend a source or an alternative?
Also,
It looks like Agfa is going out of biz. What paper do you use?

I have long been a fan of Ilford Multigrade and find that many of my students and friends use it also, so would highly recommend giving it a try. Arista I (one) was the equivalent of it, but is no l...full answer 
Question:
I use Arista 125 and 400 B&W 120 size exposed at label EI,
Rodinal 1: 100 for 15 minutes 20 ° C and 5 sec agitation
every ½ min. Then I out it in a SAUNDERS/LPL 67D Dichroic-
EFP with ARISTA B&W paper, VC, RC Plus, Glossy and develop
in ARISTA developer for paper.
