Daylab...Feeds My Artistic Soul

Whether shooting for assignment or pleasure, I love the idea that the Daylab feeds my artistic soul. By letting me take my images one step further in the creative process, I am comfortable knowing on location, that when I return home, I will have many other possibilities to extend my photographs, As an artist still committed to one of a kind images, I love that each time I do a polaroid transfer or an emulsion lift, I know that I am creating something unique. These special little gems open the possibilities for applying paints, pastels or doing a collage of images to make a different statement. While making a similar image is possible, no two are ever really alike.

I have always believed in photography, that you must start with a good image before you can extend or alter it. The Daylab allows me a myriad of choices to play and in today's busy world, that is a gift. If I do need an image very large, combined with the digital output, I have that capability. The polaroids scan and reproduce beautifully.

As a teacher, I have be been grateful to have a Daylab in my "toolbox" for the past 15 years. It opens the doors to so many possibilities and it is with pleasure that I watch students tap into their creativity and find new ways of expressing themselves.

While in Africa on assignment five years ago, I was obliged to shoot color slides for the client. Later, I made a small portfolio of images with the Daylab which allowed me to extend my interpretation of the experience and share it easily with friends. Sure beats pulling out the slide projector each time! Now I share some with you.
