Question:
Name: J.R.
I'm thinking of taking a course in Platinum/Palladium print making
(by JAN PAUL PIETRZAK). I've searched the web for good examples
of this technique, but not found them. You see great examples of
other soecial processes, but p/p stuff is rare. What might be up?
Do *you* have a web gallery I can look at? I guess I can buy your
book if need be!
I'm close to buying a large format ink jet. I was just wondering
which one(s) you use? (I like the Epsons, w/ pigmented inks, but
I wish they's come out w/ a >= 54\"). My intertest stems from when
I was a programmer at Versatec/Xerox. I used to make some pretty
wild plots at night on their electrostatic plotters, which are VERY
cheap these days. Did you ever work w/ e. statics? It sounds like
your background is a mixture of engineer & artist. Is that so? Well,
thanks. Any info you might want to release would be interesting.
Answer:
You can see lots of pt/pd examples on my site at www.danburkholder.com.
I use both an Epson 2200 and an Epson 7000, the later loaded with
Indelible Inks. I don't do any grayscale inkjet output but the nicest
work I've seen has come from Piezography inks/software on a 7000.
Keep in mind that I use the 2200 for making enlarged negatives and
the 7000 for applying a light wash of pigments to be combined for
my pigment-over-platinum work. You can see that work on my site
too.
Good luck with your work. Jan is a terrific printer and instructor
so you should leave his workhshop with lots of new skills and enthusiasm!
Best,
Dan
