QUESTION:
Do you have any experience with using/transforming
Holgas into a Pinhole. I am a teacher and would like some info.
and maybe a course guideline?
-- Beth
MS. BATES'S ANSWER:
Hi there Beth,
I haven't pinholed a Holga yet, but I recently had a long talk with
Kevin Finney, who makes pinhole body caps for many different cameras,
and he seemed interested in tackling the problem.
To do it yourself, you'd just need to remove the lens barrel and
replace it with an opaque covering with a pinhole in it. You can
calculate the shutter speed versus pinhole size using the formulas
in the many pinhole books or websites available. Distance between
pinhole and film plane shouldn't be a problem because of the great
depth of field pinholes provide.
If you are interested in using low cost materials for cameras, you
can use anything from cardboard boxes to match boxes to make pinhole
cameras!
Good luck!
