When Polaroid announced the end of instant film in 2008, Impossible stepped in to buy the last remaining factory, days before it closed down. The machines had been dismantled, there were no formulas to follow and the supply chain had already been destroyed. If instant photography wanted to be kept alive, Impossible had to reinvent instant film from scratch.
With the help of some incredible chemists, engineers and photographers, Impossible is the only company in the world who make original format instant film. They make film in both color and black and white, for Polaroid 600-type, SX-70 and Image/Spectra cameras, as well as large format 8x10 film. Impossible also refurbish classic Polaroid cameras so they’re as good as new, and have introduced their own Impossible camera.
Impossible Instant Black and White Film for 600 has eight, instant black and white exposures - each one with a different colored frame, for use in Polaroid 600-type cameras and Impossible I-type cameras. Images begin to emerge within a minute, full development takes 5-10 minutes. This instant film was made for having fun with. Colorful matte frames make a fun, eye-catching backdrop for your monochrome compositions, so each one stands out in its own way. The latest black and white film formula captures fine detail effortlessly, producing high contrast photos with depth, atmosphere and distinctive analog texture. Its iconic white frame design is a reminder of how instant photography all began.
